An Abiding Woman

I wanted to start a blog.
And then I thought, “What will I call it?” All blogs have to have a name, right?
I thought about a homemaking theme, a motherhood theme, something catchy with my last name, and so it went, until the words “Abiding Woman” popped into my mind.

“Perfect!” I thought as I reflected on John 15 and thought about how every action and vocation and season of life that I have had or ever will have is inconsequential apart from Jesus. I can do nothing good apart from Him, and I know it!

And this is how my blogging journey began.

My hope is to share pieces of my life and to point my readers to Jesus along the way.

In all we do: mothering, homemaking, dressing, chatting, loving, thinking, or homeschooling, may our hearts first and foremost be abiding in Jesus Christ, the Lord.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.  If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

PS For full transparency, this is not the first blog post I ever wrote here. Actually, I wrote it on 11/9/2017, because this blog has underwent so much change and reconstruction, it didn’t even have a clear starting place, and it sort-of felt like a house without a front door….. so I wrote “first post”…. ya know, like 4 years after actually starting the blog. Doesn’t everyone do that?

PSS The baby in the picture is my 6th born, isn’t she cute?!
